With the enactment of the Actuaries Act, 2006, the then Actuarial Society of India was converted into the Institute of Actuaries of India. IAI is a professional body having a statutory character on the same lines as those for the professions of Chartered Accountants, Cost and Works Accountants and Company Secretaries, established through enactment of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949; Cost and Works Accountants Act, 1959; and the Company Secretaries Act, 1980, respectively. IAI is the sole Professional body of Actuaries in India.
